Which cellar to visit for tour and tasting in Saumur

Can anyone recommend a cellar tour and wine-tasting in or near Saumur. There seem to be many available but the websites don%26#39;t show much information. Some time ago, I read somewhere there is a one with a vehicle that drives visitors through nine kilometres or so of underground caves - but I don%26#39;t recall which this is. Sounded fun. We don%26#39;t mind what kind of wine is produced partiuclarly , but we do want an interesting and tasty experience.

We did the Ackerman cellars a few years ago they didn%26#39;t have a train but if you mail the tourist office in Samur as above I bet they%26#39;ll help

My favorite is the Langois Chateau in St. Hillaire. There are a row of large vinters on the same street.

When we went we had a fantastic free wine tasting and then got a personal tour of the caves. highly recomended.

if you like white wine try any of the inexpensive Saumur Blancs - these are all good, or for a treat try the vieilles vignes.

For red, if they have any of the 2005 Sancerre try that!

They%26#39;re all good. There%26#39;s the one in Saumur ,Cave de Saumur%26#39;, which takes you deep underground. www.cavedesaumur.com.

Gratien %26amp; Meyer have a spectacular setting on the cliffside outside of Saumur, heading for Montsoreau. They again will take you deep into the cliffside to explore the caves and the methods. If you like sparkling wines, then this is a good one. www.gratienmeyer.com

Bouvet-Ladubay also have a good tour. Again taking you underground to see the methods used in bygone days. www.bouvet-ladubay.fr

There are so many to see, all of whom have their merits. We like Gratien %26amp; Meyer for the stunning views as you come out of the shop. There%26#39;s a nice terrace there where you can sip your wine and enjoy the view across the Loire.

Bouvet Ladubay i think is the best, you get a lovely tour and to see people working and then you get to try all the wines - and they are wonderful.

The train i think you%26#39;re talking about is at the Mercier champagne caves in Epernay/Reims area.
