St. Tropez versus Monte Carlo

Hi,

Friends who have never been to either St. Tropez or Monte Carlo need help deciding which one to stop and see on their honeymoon. They will be on a boat so getting there will not be a problem. Is one more exciting than the other to see? I know Monaco but haven%26#39;t been to St. Tropez in 30 years so can%26#39;t advise.

Thanx for any help!! Julie

Hi Juliemomof4,

If it%26#39;s beaches that they%26#39;ll enjoy, than St Tropez would be the choice. Also the quaintness of St. Tropez is quite different than Monaco. The crowds during the Summer months are quite unbearable, but that%26#39;s part of the whole scene. Monaco on the other hand although crowded as well, doesn%26#39;t give one the appearance as much. You have the wonderful Oceanographique Museum to see, the famed Casino, and of course drinks on the terrace of the Hotel de Paris, and people watch. Whatever, or wherever, congrats to them, and hope they enjoy!

I can strongly reccomend the Chateau Valmer, a little west of San Tropez.

Monaco is an overrated, ugly place, which for some reason has a reputation for glamour (its Royal family, the Casino, etc), whereas St Trop is a delightful place to wander around, shop and stop for lunch in a family-run bistro. It is what French glamour is all about.

St Tropez is an ugly seriosly overrated mess which for some reason has had good press in the past - So did Adolf Hitler once !

Agreed. Monaco has been described as a shopping mall with casino attached. Go to Menton instead.
