nice as a base

Hi there, I am going to nice, staying at the park inn hotel we are only there for two full days and would like to take in the casinos in monte carlo , could someone let me know the best way to travel to the casinos. also could someone reccommend cool places to see

From Nice main railway station there are a few trains an hour to Monaco Monte Carlo - and the casino is only a short walk from the station. The return fare is about £10 each. Also in Monte Carlo the Aquarium is the coolest aquarium you will ever go in - well worth a trip. If you go up to the castle there is a little tourist train that takes you round Monte Carlo that is well worth the trip.

Nice is lovely in the evening, just wonder through the town, through the old town and along the promenade and believe me you will not be bored - a million places to eat and drink, traders selling things, and just people watching in general.

that was really helpful, do you know when the trains stop running of a night time , hopefully planning a night in monte carlo, I believe the taxis are very expensive

Sorry I don%26#39;t know how late the trains run, and yes, a taxi would be very expensive! If you are feeling flash though there are regular helicopters between Nice Airport and Monte Carlo - they are about £80 each. But then you have to get back from the airport into Nice although that is only 20 minutes on the bus or an affordable taxi ride away. There are buses that also run between Nice and MC, though we haven%26#39;t used them on any of the times we have been there, we have just jumped on the train.

Last trains Montecarlo Nice are 22.13, 22.22 and 23.58 ie they do run fairly late but there are often large gaps between trains so its smart to pick up the local latest seasonal timetable. The buses between \Monaco and \Nice finish around 8.30pm, so its not a good option

Taxi is heading for three figures so you don%26#39;t really want to that

I wouldn%26#39;t call it a casino on the scale of Monte Carlo, but the Rhul Casino under Le Meridien, No 1 Promenade des anglais - mainly slots as usual, is the main one.

Beaulieu has a Casino of its own
