Travel from Nantes to Saint Jean De Monts

Hi I am planning on travelling to France for the first time this Sept and am planning to fly direct to Nantes. Can anyone advise on whether there is a train direct from Nantes Airport to Saint Jean De Monts, instead of me having to hire a car? Baring in mind I will be travelling with a 2 year old!!!

Hi Gaye

The question has already been asked

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g196656-i4625-k935… _airport_to_La_Yole_campsite-St_Jean_de_Monts_Pays_de_la_Loire.htm

but miss out the space in the middle. TA won%26#39;t accept more than 140 charactes!!

There is no train station at St Jean or particularly near.

In any event I would repeat the advice on the other thread - you will be very restricted without a car. Whereabouts are you staying in St Jean?

Hi Gaye, I am sure there is a train from Nantes to St Gilles, which is not that far from St Jean de Monts, could probably get a taxi from there. Just a thought! Lou

There is a train to St Gile from the airport. Also have a look at the st Jean tourist office site since they run shuttle busses from the airport to st Jean in the summer on selected days for 6Euros

I%26#39;m Doing that exact trip this Saturday!

Got this advice and I%26#39;m hoping it works.

To get there:

1. Nantes Atlantique Airport to city centre (nantes):

there%26#39;s 2 ways the shuttle bus or (the cheaper option -I%26#39;d imagine) a bus to

a tram and tram to city centre

Shuttle:

TAN (Nantes Area Transport Company) links the airport to the city centre. The

trip takes 20 minutes. The timetable is synced with scheduled flights.

Tickets cost 6 euros or buy four tickets for 16 euros. Tickets can be bought

on the shuttle. http://www.tan.fr/

Bus:

Bus 37 stops outside the main terminal. It connects with line 2 of the Nantes

tram system: stop La Neustrie. You can then take the tram to the heart of

Nantes.

Trams leave every 20 minutes: Monday to Saturday.

2. Nantes to Saint Jean de Monts:

basically you get a train from Nantes to Challans and then bus from there to

Saint Jean de Monts - they are all synchronised to hook up.

Starting City Nantes

Destination City Saint Jean de Monts

I have been looking at this same trip as I am flying to Nantes in June and making my way from there to Saint Jean de Monts. After many failed attempts I suceeded in finding timetables for the trains in that area. Here is how I did it. Go to ter-sncf.com/pays_de_la_loire/…index.asp

Click on map

When next screen appears click to activate

Go to heading Fiches Horaires on right hand side of screen

Scroll down and click on 11 which is the line you need that is Nantes-St.Gilles Croix de Vie

When you click on that a popup appears which says Service Hiver and underneath 11 Nantes....etc. click on this line and the timetable will load in pdf form and you can print it off

One may get timetable for any line the same way

St Gilles is about 10 minutes drive from St Jean de Monts, there may be a bus between the two but I,m not sure.

The shuttle from the airport(TAN) takes you to train station, the last stop I think, cost 6 euro takes about 25 minutes

Gaye,

If money is not a major decider I would hire a car.

This is the second time we have gone to st j de m. There is so much to see a car is a good way to travel, makes the journey easier with the kids. We found going for a costal drive in the evenings a good idea, especially last year in the heat.
