CDG to 7e - RER/Metro or Shuttle?

Greetings-

I was wondering for first-time Paris visitors, would it be easier and work the extra money to hire a shuttle from CDG to our hotel in the 7e or take the RER/Metro?

It seems we would need to transfer from the RER to the Metro nearest our hotel on Rue Cler, however, with rolling luggage after a long and probably near-sleepless flight, I don%26#39;t want our first experience in Paris to be a frustrating one trying to navigate the transporation system. On the flip side, I have heard some bad experiences when it comes to shuttles.......many stops, long waiting time for the shuttle to arrive, etc..

If shuttle is preferable, can anyone recommend a reliable service?

I have also heard the Air France shuttle is a good choice, but I don%26#39;t think they stop in the 7e.......where would we get off and then what.....a taxi or Metro?? Which metro line?

Any help is much appreciated!

Skip the shuttle and take a taxi for the ultimate no-hassle arrival into Paris. It%26#39;ll cost you $60 to $90 one-way depending on traffic.

Only you know whether you want to spend that kind of money to buy convenience.

An economical alternative is the Air France Bus to Place Charles de Gaulle, then the 92 bus on Ave. Marceau, getting off at the Ecole Militaire stop.

My first preference is the taxi - we have done the train, the air France bus and taxi - We stay in the 7th and the switch from the train to the metro still hurts thinking about it. They are not geared to people with luggage. The bus wasn%26#39;t as awful and out hotel was only a five minutr walk BUT - you will be tired, you will have had a 6-7 hour flight, you will have luggage and you will want to get to your detination asap. Having tried each way,we always take a taxi into the city. it is worth every euro and if there are two or three of you it isn%26#39;t that much more money - Do yourselves a favor and take the taxi.

I agree with janeharriet about taking a taxi. Just a personal preference for us. We did take the Air France bus on our first visit but since then we prefer taking taxis (legit Taxi Parisien taxis).

A taxi%26#39;s definitely the easiest. We did take the Roissy bus to the Opera stop and then a taxi to our hotel near Rue Cler. We saved a bit of money and it wasn%26#39;t hard at all. We had planned to grab the metro which goes direct from the Opera station to the 7th. It was only about a block walk from where the bus stops to the metro but after a long, tiring flight and the thought of negotiating the cobblestones, we did the taxi.
