Versailles from the Rue du Rivoli. (Hotel Brighton)

Can I ask for someone%26#39;s assistance in getting directions from the Hotel Brighton on Rue du Rivoli to Versailles?

I forget where on the Rue de Rivoli the Brighton is (I know I passed it on our trip last week) but you want to get to the Bd. du Palace bridge and walk south on it to the RER station (so you might want to take the 1 Metro to Chatelet stop). Anyway, on the south side of the bridge (left bank, not the cite) you%26#39;ll find two entrances to the RER station. The one on the west side is automated (meaning you need to have your train ticket in hand). The one on the east side will lead you to a booth to buy your tickets to Versailles. Take the RER C with a %26#39;V%26#39; on the front.

Hello, stayed at that hotel two years ago ,, and went to Versailles. First staff there are most helpful,, they will give directions so don%26#39;t panic.

They told me ( much as above post) to walk across bridge, to the Invalids%26quot; RER station and take train from there, which is exactly what we did! We went on a sunday, so unfortunately we had to use the ticket machines as the manned kiosks were closed,, but we managed, ( with some help from some British tourists) . OUr CC would not work in the machine( not micro chipped?) so the British couple bought our ticket and we just gave them cash.

Have fun, it is a nice hotel( hope you got a view room it is awesome!), and the trip to Versailles is wonderful.

Thank you. We plan on visiting Versailles on a Sunday so we will probably have them same issue with the CC. Will it only take CC? Also after buying the ticket I assume it is fairly self explanitory? Is the stop called Versailles? Or how will we know when to get off? Do we change trains or is it straight? Sorry, I am a bit of metro newbie!!

Cut across or around the Jardin des Tuileries (that large park directly across the street from your hotel) and cross the Seine at Passerelle Solferino or Pont Royal and take the RER %26#39;C-5%26#39; ligne (heading in the direction of Versailles-Rive Gauche) from the MUSÉE d%26#39;ORSAY RER station out in front of the museum or across the Seine at Pont de la Concorde and take the RER %26#39;C%26#39;5%26#39; ligne (heading in the direction of Versailles-Rive Gauche) from either INVALIDES or MUSÉE d%26#39; ORSAY RER stations.

For the rest follow the numerous detailed instructions / directions for getting to and from CHATEAU de VERSAILLES that can be found here (just about every 15 minutes...or so it seems).

machines only take European credit cards -- in the stations, at the Louvre, at the gas pump --- so it might be easier just to buy the ticket a day or two ahead when you are out and about

Thanks to both of you. I have copied your intructions into my itinerary and I will be sure to buy the tickets for the train ahead of time. Do these tickest also allow me the option of buying my pass into Versailles so I can avoid the ques?
