I know there is a paper to pick up that lists the current local music scene but can anyone add to the list of best clubs I should know of before departure? I am talking here about purer blues sound not jazz...

Apart from l%26#39;Espace Blues and Quai du Blues (the latter being not in Paris but in Puteaux or Neuilly), the other clubs are mostly jazz. There are often blues festivals in Paris / Ile-de-France. Could you please give us your dates, so that I can check?

When you are in Paris the Paris Jazz festival, at the pelouse de Reuilly in the bois de Vincennes, will be in full swing. You might have a look at their programmation (it%26#39;s in English too) to possibly spot a bit of blues:
