CDG experience

Well, after worrying way too much about CDG, I must say that our experience with it wasn%26#39;t bad at all. Now, it could be that, because it was an early sunday morning departure, lines were shorter and fewer passengers to have to deal with. Whatever, we went right thru the line, right thru security with no problems. Boarding the Continental flight was like a cattle call, totally crazy, but that was the only thing that was.

So, to those who ask this question on TA (as I did before leaving), just give yourself plenty of time at CDG..that seems to be the key.

I second that. We had absolutely no problems with CDG either.

Do you recommend taking the RER to and from CDG or a Taxi?

Cheers,

We took a taxi. We were in Paris for 9 days and saw alot of people on both the metro and the RER that were toting luggage. We just didn%26#39;t want to deal with that, plus the steps that we encountered in the stations were killers...I couldn%26#39;t imagine trying to get luggage up and down them.

The RER is less expensive than a taxi, for sure, but we didn%26#39;t regret using one.

I was wandering what was wrong with CDG when reading other posts, because we ddidn´t have any problems either. We took the Roissybus, we arrived with plenty of time, there were reasonable lines at migration and everything went smoothly, either at arrival as at departure. We had a connecting flight from terminal 2A to terminal 2B, which ment a little walking but not at all complicated.

I cannot say the same about Heathrow Airport where we had to make endless lines for migration and bag dropping, and we were even X-ray scanned (my 16 yr old daughter and I) as criminals.

Actually, if you note carefully, most of the complaints involve transferring at CDG. When paris is your final destination city then CDG is no worse than other large airports throughout the world, though the constant construction means that it will not look the same as the last time you were there and the rules are constantly changing.

What people need to be aware of are the massive issues with this airport when transferring through it (ie: JFK to CDG to Rome) things of this nature. If you ever have a choice to avoid this, DO. If you MUST go through it, then be sure to give yourself lots of time and lots of Prozac would be helpful too.

Cheers! LL
