Hey I was over at Versailles today and they rent out golf carts for up to 4 people. It%26#39;s 28 euro per hour.
Who ever thought of this idea should be given a medal.

I%26#39;m not sure how I feel about this one -- it%26#39;s okay if the people driving them are courteous and use common sense, but I doubt that%26#39;s going to be universally true (and that could make things much less pleasant for those who are strolling along). What was your observation in general about how others were using them?

I%26#39;ve said it before and I%26#39;ll say it again, I HATE THOSE FREAKING GOLF CARTS. They kick up a cloud of dust all over the gardens - what%26#39;s wrong with the little tram, the horse carriage, a bike, or walking, what%26#39;s next - go carts?!

I was under the impression they were only allowed on certain pathways so when one came down one of the narrow bosquet paths I was a little worried. But other than that they didn%26#39;t bother us. (but rain cut down the dust the day we were there) I was really wishing I could hop on one at one point. But at 28 euro an hour? yikes.

Did we mention the loud recorded voice that you play upon reaching certain spots? I hate that, too.

They%26#39;ve been there for some time - at least two years to my knowledge, and probably alot longer - so if you hadn%26#39;t noticed them before, they can%26#39;t be always causing annoyance.
They were the only way my elderly guests could see the gardens. Versailles is really hard to manage if you are physically restricted.

This is great for me... I did the Fat Tire Bike tour in June and LOVED it!!! But, I am taking a few people that cannot ride the bikes due to a recent surgery and some physical limitations. This sounds like a great thing for some people. I really wanted my friends to see some of the great parts of Versailles besides the palace.
I think the price of the carts may keep out some of the trouble makers... let%26#39;s hope.
