I pre-booked through SNCF my train tickets (6 of us) from Paris to Bayeux. We leave from Gare St Lazare. SNCF sent me a .pdf file of each ticket which I printed out. It prints out on a standard 8 1/2%26quot; x 11%26quot; sheet. How do I use these when we get to the train station? Do I have to go to a ticket window, or show them to someone? We are leaving in less than a week - and I have NO idea what I am doing with these! Thanks

Those are your official %26#39;tickets%26#39;. You go right to the track (voie), find your car and seats, sit down, and wait for the conductor to come around. He/she will ask for your tickets - you show them these printouts, they may or may not ask to also see your passport.. then they%26#39;ll hand them back and go to the next person. That%26#39;s it!

Thank you

travelnity. Will the conductor give a receipt? My company also needs a official receipt.

I am travelling with my family from Nice to Paris and wondering how far ahead of the departure time I should plan on us getting to the station? We%26#39;ll have luggage.
Many thanks,

Is it the first time you will be using the French trains? When we left Nice a month ago, we had not caught a train in France (for 30 years!!!) so we got to Nice airport at least half an hour before departure. It takes a while to work out how the trains leave from which platform and where the specific carriage will stop. It is a very logical and easy system, once you have done it once. Also, you have to work out how to get to the relevant platform, and this may mean going up and down stairs to get to the platform, don%26#39;t count on lifts operating (often they were not). I think it was Nice that was undergoing some re-furbishment too. We had luggage as well. Do remeber to validate your tickets in the yellow validation machine BEFORE you go looking for the platform (i.e. in the main hall area), otherwise one of you will have to run all the way back, up and down stairs, to validate. it is very impoirtant to validate the tickets.

It is not necessary to validate self-printed tickets (and you wouldn%26#39;t be able to squeeze them in the new validating machines anyway !)
