"creaky knees"

Greetings!

Five days in Paris and the surrounding area in early September!!

With %26quot;creaky knees%26quot; we are unable to climb a flight of stairs and choose not to walk long distances.

Most helpful -- a list of attractions NOT SUITABLE for us. I%26#39;m thinking, for example, of the Metro, and places where climbing many stairs is somewhat mandatory for enjoying being there.

Also -- suggestions of where to stay so that transportation time will be minimal. Information about buses, perhaps routes.

And -- is this kind of information available somewhere else?

We thank you!!

Wow, that%26#39;s an interesting but tough request!

Depends also how %26quot;creaky%26quot; you are, means are 10/20 steps on a stair acceptable, or already too much.

More and more metro stations have escalators, but you will still have some short stairs before or after. Buses will be easier, slower than metro but now they have their own lanes in most areas, so even at rush hours it won%26#39;t be too bad.

As for suitable and unsuitable attractions, it would indeed be a great idea to have some kind of brochure, but I am not aware this exists. More and more museums and attractions indicate on their websites if they are %26quot;handicapped-friendly%26quot;, but you have to check one by one for the places you would like to visit!

The public transport RATP, in charge of both buses and metro, has free bus and metro maps, and a useful website as for routes (http://www.ratp.fr/), and clicking on the English flag (no US flag yet!) on top you can have all info in English.

Enjoy your stay!
