Chime in--Fav. shuttle service

For my help and many others....

What is your favourite and most reliable shuttle service to get to and from Airports to central Paris?

|||

There is a very good company called Les Taxis Parisiens: no waiting around at the terminal, no pre-paid scams, no zig-zagging through Paris to drop off the three other groups of passengers before you, no crammed seating in a minivan. Guess what? It%26#39;st he company chosen by locals by a ratio of, say 99 against 1 for shuttles, which must tell something. Oh yes, it might cost you 10 to 15 euros more than with a shuttle. Reasonable price to pay for a good start to a vacation that will cost you several thousand dollars.

|||

Agree. Shuttles are a good deal for one person. Anyone really wanting to economize should consider one of the buses or the RER.

Hubby and I travel alone to Paris so we always go into Paris on the shuttle Bluvan.fr.

|||

Bluvan charges 65 Euro one way from CDG and 70 one way to Orly, for three of us. How does this compare to a taxi???

Is a taxi the better rate for three of us????

|||

I don%26#39;t really understand how one could charge more to Orly than Roissy (%26quot;CDG%26quot;), the latter being much further afield than the former (about 25 km vs 15 km). I don%26#39;t know what you exactly call %26quot;central Paris%26quot;, what arrondissement you are meaning, but in my experience you%26#39;d be hard pressed to pay more than € 55-60 ex Roissy into a single digit arrondissement. In other words, Bluvan is taking you for a ride: you%26#39;ll pay more than for a taxi, but you%26#39;ll have to wait /look for the damned van in a strange airport in a strange language, the van will then take you through the route that suits the company / the other passengers, not you, to your hotel. So thank you Peter for providing us the umpteenth evidence that Paris shuttle companies only exist to milk gullible North American tourists who think that the whole world is fashioned after their own type of urban and transport structure and that therefore airport-downtown shuttles serve some kind of purpose in a European environment. They clearly don%26#39;t.

Thanks for this. It seems more and more to me that Taxi is certainly the way to go.

Unless you specifally need a transportation directly to hotel or have too much luggage to manage on your own the Air France bus is a very good way to get to and from the airport (CDG) check site to see if thy go to Orly. You do not need to be an Air France passenger. This is available to all.

http://www.cars-airfrance.com/ then click on box on left for English. for more information.

I used the stop from Carnot/Arc which was less that 1/2 mile from my hotel. you pay the driver, attendant put luggage in hold, the terminal for American Airlines was the first stop. (I only used to airport as I came to Paris on Eurostar).

I have also seen the suggestion to use Air France bus into Paris then get taxi at bus stop to hotel.

When I went on my first personal trip to Paris we used the shuttle that came with the AA package, it was over an hour late picking us up for return trip. One couple missed their return flight to US.

If we had known of Air France shuttle we could have saved ourselves some money as our hotel was only six blocks from Arc.

Whatever you decide Enjoy your trip!

If you have two or three going to Paris I would take a taxi.

If there is only one of you going into Paris I will compare my last two prices for you.

The shuttle was $30.00 USD (reserved ahead on line and charged to my CC).

The Les Parisian Taxi for one person -- plus luggage cost and the tip cost me $65 USD into 5 e from CDG at 10:00 am on a Tueday. (I paid in euros and I felt ripped off! especially since )

I would never take a shuttle on Sat or Sun, as they close their office and you can not contact them after hours!

For the benefit of myself and others travelling in groups of three or more, what is the one word answer to

Taxi vs Shuttle??

|||

The price that I quoted above is from Le Marais, Rue des Archives and Rue des Blanc Manteaux. 65 from CDG and 70 to Orly. Would I pay less for a taxi?. It is a private apartment so what is the best way to get the taxi for the ride out?
