We are going to Paris for 10 days in November.
After reading all the horror stories about CDC, I%26#39;m already concerned.
We are staying in the Latin Quarter and our flight leaves at 10:45 am on a Friday.
Thinking of leaving the hotel (shuttle service) at 7:00 am.
Does this sound about right?
We are flying from Paris direct to Miami Florida.
Have no idea of which terminal we would depart from at CDC.
I get real uptight at airports with all the confusion, Etc.
Thanks in advance...Hobbs

1. what airline? American, Delta and Continental fly out of CDG-2; US Air and United fly out of CDG-1
2. the shuttle co. will ask what time your flight is and then THEY will tell you what time they%26#39;ll pick you up. They have to consider any other stops they make to pick up passengers. You will want all of 3 hours at the airport, so leaving by 7am sounds good.

Thanks..forgot to mention we are flying Air France.
Are they normally conservative with the time they pick you up?
Would asssume at that hour there shouldn%26#39;t be much traffic.

Be sure to properly differentiate CDG from CDC.
CDG is Paris, France.
If you%26#39;ve arrived at CDC, you will be in either Cedar City, Utah or the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia. Either way, it will be a horror story if you wanted to be in Paris, France.

Unless you have lots of luggage, you would be much better to hop on the RER line. It takes you directly to CDG. We could put the shuttle on our company card, but never take the shuttle. We took it once and I had to direct the young student driver through the city to our hotel. I have known others to be stuck in the traffic getting to or from the airport.
As in the US, traffic jams are common.
Of course, many others have had good experiences, but I just don%26#39;t what to have to think of the possibilities...
Have a wonderful trip.

absolutely -- the airport is at the end of the RER -- lord knows where the shuttle will be or what the traffic will be like during morning rush hour
we have been burned twice by shuttles in Europe and would never take one to the airport -- from the airport where a lost indifferent driver doesn%26#39;t matter, ok -- but not to the airport

Another vote for the RER! I would select the %26quot;express%26quot; train that does not make as many stops. Less crowded that way.

You certainly should be horrified...given the potentials for the world-wide spread of things like Ebola, Lassa and other assorted hemorrhagic encephalitides...as well as other potential pandemic nasties...it%26#39;s absolutely shocking....and we don%26#39;t even know the least of the other level-4+ pathogens they%26#39;ve isolated and identified. But perhaps you can add a really stylish level-4, bio-hazzard protection suit to your wardrobe while you%26#39;re in Paris.
It%26#39;s pretty common practice for airport shuttle services to schedule pick-up for 3:30-4:00 hours prior to your scheduled flight%26#39;s departure time. There are the potential vageries of surface traffic between Paris and the airports...as well as frequent delays at CDG for airline check-ins and security protocols.
Your Air France flight to Miami should depart from CDG Terminal #2-E....but check with Air France to definitively confirm this. Given that your flight should depart from CDG #2-E, this terminal building is directly connected to the SNCF / TGV / RER train station...so using the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne train from Paris (any %26#39;B%26#39; train with an %26#39;..E xxx..%26#39; designation--8,10 €...approx 30-40 mins) may well be a convenient alternative to a shuttle service---but only if your hotel is located conveniently near to one the the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne stations in Paris (Denfert-Rochereau, Pont Royal, Luxembourg, Saint Michel-Notre Dame RER; Chatelet-Les Halles RER, Gare du Nord)..otherwise making the connections may prove %26#39;..clunky..%26#39;.
Other public transportation alternative are the two (#2 %26amp; #4) Les Cars Air France routes or the ROISSYBUS.

I would plan on being at the airport 3 hours before you leave.
It normally takes an hour to get to CDG from Paris... if there is traffic then add more time! if they are picking up other people add more time for those pickups.
We take a taxi but if there is traffic (Friday am there should be !) we allow about 1 1/2 hours for it.

I am one of the people who loathes CDG for many reasons, but I have been more than clear in indicating that my loathing involves the process of TRANSFERRING only through CDG - not landing or taking off from there if it is your final destination or origin city.
So although the airport is rather large and overwhelming as far as crowds, the major problems that you should be afraid of involve transferring here - getting from one terminal to the other - things of this nature. If you land here and are going direct into Paris, transport is quick, readily available and easily located. When you are taking off from here, again, you will likely check in at the same terminal from which you are departing. No real issues there. I would still give extra time to this process, however, just in case some construction causes any alterations or changes in the normal terminals utilized.
Otherwise, nothing to be afraid of. If you ever are going from, say Miami to Rome and thinking of transferring through CDG, well then be afraid - be very afraid....

We left CDG about the same time as you going to Mia via AF. We left the hotel in the 7th about 7:00 AM. The drive was fine, it was the AF ticket counter that was the nightmare. There was trouble with the baggage handling belt. We made it to the plane, but had no time to spare.
