Where to stay in Paris

Hello

I require your help please,

As it is coming nearer to my wedding anniversary i am thinking of planning a weekend away to Paris as its seen as one of the most romantic cities.

Can anyone advise me of where would be the best place to stay and what can one do over there, i.e places to, romantic restaurants and what would be the best mode of travel i.e. ferry, rail or by air.

Any advise would be helpful, i am thinking of going at the end of August/beginning of September.

Thanks

Hi Mayhem

You didnt say whether you or your wife have been to Paris before? I am assuming this is a first trip and recommend the Marais (4th arrondissement) for being central and nice little streets with lots to see and nice places to eat and also the Ile St Louis as it is very central and beautiful especially in the evening when the greater number of tourists have moved back to where they are staying (there are only 4 hotels that I know of on the Ile St Louis) otherwise the area of the 5th and 6th that is near the Seine and the two islands. Any of these places would be a great place to stay for first (or second or third) timers,

I suggest you read a guidebook to see which of these areas you are interested in (or any other area for that matter) and then look for hotels in that area. Note that August might be easier to find a nice place than September which is very much high season. I don%26#39;t know if you would find a room in this hotel now (it is popular) but the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles has a beautiful garden which is a rare thing for any hotel in Paris

Here are websites for hotels on the Ile St Louis
