Hello
My husband and I are going to stay at the Hotel Sofitel Aquitaine while we are in Bordeaux. The reviews on Trip are very old and not very informative. Can anyone tell me how far away it is from the city center? Should be rent a car or will public transort (taxi/buses) be enough? Also how far away is the airport from the Sofitel? Any advice would be highly appreciated.
Thanks very much!

If you go to the Sofitel web site (sofitel.com) you can do a search under %26quot;Bordeaux, France%26quot; to find the hotel--there%26#39;s only one in the area. From there you can see a map which will give you an idea of its location, especially if you pull out to the %26quot;City%26quot; scale.
The map will show you that you are not in the center of town-the hotel caters especially to business travelers who are attending conferences or exhibitions at the nearby conference center or exhibition hall.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which can be convenient, but if the idea of public transportation to the outskirts of the city puts you off, your next best bet would be a taxi. You could rent a car, but getting around Bordeaux city in one is far from an easy experience.
Getting to the Sofitel from the airport is fairly simple: the ring road (called the %26quot;Rocade%26quot;) carries you directly to the lake area without going into Bordeaux itself or anywhere near downtown traffic. Evening rush hour can be fierce, but other than during this time, the drive should take about 10-15 minutes.

Thank you so much once again!
