road trip from St. Emilion to Cannes, france

My husband I are driving from St. Emilion to Cannes and want to find the most scenic route and a place to to stay one night in between to break up the drive. We want to leave Wednesday morning and arrive in Cannes thursday afternoon/evening.

Any suggestions? We were looking at the Gorge du tarn, Albi, Figeac....

We drove through the Gorge du Tarn last summer, was beautiful. Albi Cathedral and Toulouse Latreque Musem fabulous and worth a stop. Recommend buying a good map, like Michellin, and looking for the routes with %26quot;green%26quot; or scenic lines along them. We especially loved the small or %26quot;white%26quot; roads with no yellow line. But we love to road trip.

thank you for the tips! Will definately head for the Gorge du Tarn now.

I agree with Francesca, Albi would be a good stop and the Cathedral and Latrec Museum are must sees. We stayed at a Hotel called Hotel Grand Antoine. It was OK but not worthy of its 4 star rating. A nice restaurant was an art deco decor place called the Epicurians. It was outstanding. One place to definately avoid is a place called L%26#39;Occitan.

Gorges du Tarn is indeed gorgeous, but you need to spend some time there (no huge highway like in LA!).

So beware that the trip between Saint-Emillion and Cannes...is a very long one, even on highways. I would think having both the Saint-Emillion and Cannes trip and the gorges du Tarn in les than two days...well, it%26#39;s not absolutely impossible, but you will have to wake up early, and will have very little time for side breaks on the way!
