My husband and I are travelling to Nice this Sunday and would like to visit St. Paul de Vence, also maybe a boat trip to Portofino. Suggestions on how best to get there, not sure whether to hire a car or take the bus.

the best and cheapest way to get there is to take the bus from the bus station in nIce to St Paul de Vence . Cant remember the number but the last time I went , the stop is just through the doors to the back left of the ticket office / travel info office

thanks for that - we will give it a try.

TAM Route 400 Nice - Vence via St Paul
If you are serious about Portofino, there is no easy access from Nice.
You can hire a car and drive, but then you can do that anywhere and everywhere.
You can take a train to Genoa from Nice via Ventimiglia and take local Italian train further.
Last year a new EasyCruise summer night-clubbing vessel used to do a weekly cycle which included stoppovers until 3am in a different port each night, including Nice, Cannes, St Tropez, Portofino and Monaco. Don%26#39;t know if its survived to a second season
The SantAzur tour company in Av Jean Medecin include a Portofino daytrip about once a month in their schedules - well worth a look (they are not online) For around 55 euro you get a coach to San Rappelo followed by a boat to Portofino, including lunch, and the trip back ,all in one day. Its usually mid-month
Cheers

Thanks for the info NiceLife - seems like our best option is to hire a car.
