Hotel help! Antibes or Juan Les Pins? (difference)

I read that Old Antibes or Antibes itself was a great location to stay on a trip to the French Riviera because it was easy to get on a bus (or train) to do either day trips or relax near a sandy (less pebbly) beach. And I love to walk.... and explore. I also read that the stops in Antibes were more frequent too.

Im in my 30%26#39;s, traveling alone the 2nd week in July...... and, would like to be safe, and able to walk at night from dinner or from the bus stop after a day in St. Tropez or Monaco.

The websites for hotels are mostly showing as %26quot;Antibes Juan Les Pins%26quot; (as ONE location) --- but, I dont have a street map and cant tell if its really Antibes (or old Antibes) or if its closer to JLP (or their proximity from one another - Antibes from JLP)..... Some hotels look lovely and in my budget (70 -100 euro max a night), but I dont want to make a mistake........ Id like to make an educated decision on chosing a hotel.

Any suggestions? Any advice is greatly appreciated.. I must make a reservation soon!

Thank you.

I would suggest Juan LesPins. There are more hotels there, more restaurants and the (public) free beach is great . Walk to Antibes is abou 1/2 hour. The town is quite small and safe. Near train station there is an internet cafe and laundromat.

Map of the area is hard to find online (shame!). They have a good free map available fat the Juan Les Pins tourist office, but one would like to get ona ahead of time. That%26#39;s a shame as one would like to have one ahead of time.

The local train schedules TER are available online, but the booklets available at the train stations ar a lot more handy.

I visited the area in early June, stayed at the Best Western Grand Pavois which was good but a bit pricey. Also Best Western Astoria and La Residence looked pretty good.

Have a good time

I agree that JLP would be better.

See http://www.antibes.co.uk/maps/large.area.jpg

for a map.

You can see that Antibes and JLP share a cape, with Antibes to the NE and JLP to the SW. The actual cape (Cap d%26#39;Antibes) is beautiful but you won%26#39;t get much for 70-100 euros a night there!

If you want a nice quiet location, beautiful pool and walking distance to the beach, station etc, very safe neighbourhood in JLP try the Hotel des Mimosas in the rue Pauline. A single room with shower and a/c would be around 100 euros. See http://www.hotelmimosas.com. I only suggest it as it is a firm favourite of ours!

This question has been asked many times : you should search the forum with these key words to get advices!

No one need a street map anymore to plan one%26#39;s trip, as all maps are on internet : if you need to check hotel adresses, use this site : you type the adress and get the map and even the aerial view :

For street maps, use Michelin site:
