Hi,
My husband and I wil be in Bordeaux region from July 21st to 25th. But I just found out that most of the chateau in Bordeaux are closed on weekends -_-
So we only have two and half days of time to visit chateau...
I made an appointment on Margaux and Mouton Rothschild but Latour and Lafite said they are fully booked.
Is there anyway I can still visit them or if I don%26#39;t have an appointment, I cannot visit them?
Also, can anyone recommend any good wineries in the area? Even if we cannot visit the first growth chateau, we still want to visit many chateaus in the region.
Many thanks in advance.

Visiting the first growths at this time of year requires at least a month%26#39;s lead time to get an appointment--so don%26#39;t regret missing Latour and Lafite, but rather figure you are extraordinarily lucky to have succeeded with Margaux and Mouton.
One of the most striking aspects about so many of the Bordeaux châteaux is that these world-famous vineyards have no gates around them. Thus, you can certainly drive up near Latour and Lafite and take pictures without problem. As for getting inside, as with practically all the classed-growth châteaux, you would most definitely need an appointment.
Don%26#39;t feel that only the most well-known châteaux are worth visiting while in Bordeaux. When putting together itineraries for clients I frequently tell them that smaller properties can often provide a more memorable and informative experience than some of the more sought-after estates; this is because instead of having a guide show you around a famous property, you can receive an in-depth visit by the owner or winemaker at a %26quot;less-prestigious%26quot; château.
Nonetheless, for other possibilities in the area, take a look at this link:
