It would appear there is a great train journey from Cannes to St Raphael looking at Google, has anyone done this for a day trip. If any information on St Raphael is out there I would also appreciate recieving it, Thanks in anticipation.

It is indeed a lovely route. You can travel by TGV, which is suitably quick, or if you take the SNCF it becomes a gentle meander and it stops at every local station too.
