We arrive at 10:30 a.m. after flying 7 hrs in the night but dont want to waste our day. We most likely will get to the hotel by noon ( I hope ) and would like to try to stay up at least till 10 pm. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Personally, I would strongly suggest you purchase a %26quot;Carte Orange%26quot;
This is a Metro ticket valid for a week (or month) and is alot cheaper than buying individual tickets, I believe I paid about 15 Euro.

Then I would spend the first day getting my bearings, just jump on and off the Metro just to get a feeling of the place. I know there are so many nice places in Paris ( It%26#39;s where I met my wife for the first time)
but I highly reccomend %26quot;Jardin du Luxembourg %26quot; on a sunny day, watch the old men playing chess, and enjoy the French way of life, ( take a picnic)

Paris is a wonderful city and I%26#39;m sure you are going to have a lovely time.
Regards.

For your first day, the best way to cope with jetlag is to stay in the outside light most of the day.
Where is your hotel located ? Why not discover the neighborhood by foot, then go to some park or garden (Luxembourg or Tuileries / Palais Royal) ? You could have lunch outside: there are nice restaurants in the Palais Royal garden, or buy a picnic.
So, no museum or inside visit on this first day, but nice walks, a light lunch outside, and a few drinks at a café terrace before dinner.

And another advice, as I see after your previous posts that you%26#39;ll arrive in 2 weeks : don%26#39;t take the métro too much on this fist day, it is very very hot in summer and it will be very tiring.
And as I see that you stay near place de Clichy, don%26#39;t go to the Luxembourg that is too far away.

Walk outside and let the sunlight hit your eyeballs to help readjust your internal clock. Where are you staying?

I also like to do a boat ride on day one (if the weather is good). It gets me excited and you get to see many of the monuments that you know to be Paris...it also really helps get you oriented to the city.
I like the Vedettes du Pont Neuf. A bit smaller boats and you can get an on-line coupon on their site.

Have a great time!

Let%26#39;s see. We were supposed to land at 10:30 but were about 2+ hrs. late. We went to our hotel, checked in, unpacked some things, had lunch, walked around, looked at Notre Dame-outside, purchased our museum passes, visited the Archeological Crypt,, purchased our Carte Orange tickets, and went to dinner, and then bed.
