Metro Tickets

HELP!!!! Have read various postings regarding metro tickets and am still a bit confused. Will be in Paris for 5 days and not hoping to use the metro too often but will be necessary as travelling with a 10 year old. Should we pay as we go or buy in bulk. Some and advising the viste but other say it is over priced? Also planning to visit Verseille and Disney by rail? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Suggest you buy at least one book (carnet) of tickets - it is the best value if you will be using the rail.

Versailles AND Disney AND Paris in five days? That is not much time. A child will be bored at Versailles. On the other hand, DIsney is Disney is Disney - it is the same only in a different location. They both have easy access by train.

Are you not wanting to take the metro, but will have to or are you going to stay within your area that you wont take the metro?

If you%26#39;re going to use it much, explore the Carte Orange. Its an unlimited use ticket that is good for a week starting monday and ending Sunday. Therefore, if you%26#39;re arriving Thursday it wont do you any good. There are NUMEROUS threads on carte oranges and what you need to do to get one.

You%26#39;re right, I%26#39;d probably buy a carnet of 10 tickets before ever getting the overpriced visite pass.

If you haven%26#39;t been to Disneyland before, and you%26#39;re traveling with a child, I%26#39;d say go. We bought our tickets before we left home and they included the train fare. It was a long and tiring day and our then 6 and 9 year olds were not tall enough for all the rides, but our 12 yo was.

We used the carnet 10 and it was easy and cheap.

DO TAKE YOUR 10 YO TO THE JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG. We had such a lovely afternoon there, with sailing boats ( even our 18 yo hired one), pony rides, etc. I believe there is also a puppet show at certain times.

Our 10 year old loved the metro. The visite is overpriced. If you really do not think you%26#39;ll be using the metro very much, I suggest buying a carnet or two.

Take a few minutes to teach your child how to use the metro and how to read the metro map. Make sure they know your %26quot;home%26quot; stop. Tell the child if he or she gets separated from you on the metro, they should get off at the next stop, no matter what it is, and wait there for you. A couple of weeks ago, on our first metro ride, two of our kids got on a car and the doors shut between us and off they went! Fortunately, I%26#39;d told them in advance to get off at the next stop and they remembered.
