Belgium, Paris & London: 2 days each or, 1, 3, and 2 days?

Hi: I%26#39;ll be travelling with my family (Parents in their 50%26#39;s) from the United States to Brussels for a wedding in September, and we are going to take the opportunity to visit a little more of Europe.

After the wedding, we plan on spending the next 6 days (Sunday - Friday) visiting Brussels, Paris and London.

I was thinking of 2 days in each city, but since I know more about Paris and London than Begium, I%26#39;m actually more interested in spending more time in Paris.

Would 1 day in Belgium, 3 days in Paris, and 2 days in London be better?

That%26#39;s very difficult to say, since even in a tiny country like Belgium I had a full busy week of visits a few years ago.

And the atmosphere of Brussels, Ghent , Paris and London is of course very different, but none is bad. I love the Paris one, but I was born there...

As for 5 days, depends a bit of what you are your parents are into (museums? long walks in old areas?...), but I think as a general rule your 1-3-2 idea is a good one!

Enjoy your stay.

Lucy --

Before you decide - calculate your travel times - I think you%26#39;ll find that 3 cities will be one too many. I expect that you%26#39;re looking at 1/2 day in transit for each centre between checking out, traveling, checking in - etc. That will leave you with very little vacation time. Perhaps you can find a few more days?

Good luck.

We have great (and relatively cheap) trains here, Brussels to Paris is 1h25, to London a bit more but not so long. Take the trip time into account, of course, but don%26#39;t worry too much about this.

And of course as for Paris and London don%26#39;t even consider a car for the trip!

|||

With all due respect to the Belgians - I would spend a good half day in Brussells and the rest of the time in Paris and London!

|||

Thank you both! I have factored 1.5 hours from Brussels to Paris on Thalys and 2 hours from Paris to London.

The only thing I haven%26#39;t decided is whether I should travel between cities the night before, or if I should wake up early the next morning and leave for the next city.

Suggestions?

How about just Belgium and Paris? That%26#39;s plenty for 6 days.

|||

if by 2 days, you mean 2 nights -- then you are talking about one day in each of these places -- the day coming and going is wasted in logistics -- maybe a little bit of time in the local the evening of the arrival day -- but only ONE full day

the most I would do in so little time is two cities -- I would do an extra couple days in Brussels since you are there and the rest in Paris or head straight for Paris after the wedding and do 3 nights in Paris and 3 in London -- this still only leaves a couple of days for each

Where are you flying back out from?

About 10 years ago I spent two weeks between Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and London. We spent the least amount of time in Brussels. I don%26#39;t mean any harm but you might want to just do London and Paris.

Based on the fact that your wedding is in Brussels I suggest you only do Brussels and Paris, and save London for another trip to Europe, this asuming that you also fly out of Brussels. If you fly out of London I would maybe skip Brussels, you will see parts of it going to and from places at the wedding anyway. All 3 I think is to tight, traveling always take longer than you think, with packing, going to and from trainstations, checking in at hotels etc.

Enjoy

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I will actually be flying out of London, which is why London has to be my last stop. I was thinking I would be able to save a lot of time by just leaving for the States from London.

I think I%26#39;m going more and more toward just spending Sunday in Brussels, and then leaving for Paris on Monday morning.

Spending Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Paris

Leave for London on Wednesdsay night and spend Thursday and Friday in London.

This has been a great help! Now I need to iron out what I want to do on London and Paris. Please keep on giving me your suggestions! I really appreciate it.
