Itinerary for driving trip

My husband and I, along with one other couple, are planning a driving trip in France in September. We are spending the first four days in Burgundy (Dijon/Beaune area), and then are undecided about where to spend the last two days before we head on to Paris. The options we have considered are: Vezelay/Auxerre, or Troyes/Reims, or (if this isn%26#39;t too nuts), driving west to Chartres and spending a day and a half there. We do not want to have too far to drive when we head to Paris, although we do not mind driving a few hours after we leave Beaune. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Thank you very much.

I don%26#39;t have a recommendation about the other places you mentioned, but I don%26#39;t think you would find Chartres nearly interesting enough to spend that much time there. Really, there%26#39;s not much there except the cathedral, and that requires only a few hours even for an in-depth visit.

I would add an extra day in Dijon/Beaune, which would allow you to do a daytrip to Vezelay, and add a day to Paris.

Alternatively, you can go to Reims for those two days and see Champagne country.

I agree that Chartres is at best a morning tour of the Cathedral and a lazy lunch, nothing more. A nice day, but not one to invest a full day and a half.
