rotisserie du beaujolais

Hi

Could anyone tell me what, if any, the views are like from le rotisserie du beaujolais? The views from La Tour d%26#39;Argent look incredible if their website is anything to go by, but I think the price is a little prohibitive. Le Rotisserie du Beaujolais sounds like an excellent, possibly even better, alternative given what people have written previously, but I was just wondering what the atmosphere/ view is like.

For a one-off special, which would you choose?!

Many Thanks

Hi

I went to Le Rotisserie du Beaujolais with my wife in April last year and I can%26#39;t remember that I gave much thought about the view there. But we were not seated at the window either. Here is a short summary of the places we went to eat in Paris...and a few pictures of the food: gardkarlsen.com/eat_drink_Paris_France.htm

Hi

Yes, the food was good there even if the service was a bit %26quot;strange%26quot; and we had to wait forever to get the check...but the food was very good :-)

There isn%26#39;t much of a view at all unless you%26#39;re in the %26quot;fish bowl%26quot;...the one table they have that%26#39;s parked, all by itself, in a little side area of the resto that surrounded by windows. The restaurant is on the street level (across the street from Tour d%26#39;Argent, and in the winter you can see the back end of Notre Dame if you crane you neck pretty far. There are cafe curtains on the windows to provide a little privacy from street onlookers, which also blocks any view from table level. The restaurant is fantastic, the food is always consistent and they have a pretty good wine list. It is extremely popular with locals, and you%26#39;ll definitely need a reservation.

All of that said, there is no comparison between the two restaurants, even though they have the same owner. A very nice dinner at RdB will cost you 100€ for two, but the TdA will set you back about 400€ if you watch every centime you spend. I mean, the cheapest dessert on the menu is 24€ for the chocolat cake, and if you really want to splurge, you can get the Iranian Caviar for 280€. Entrees are 50-85€ and main dishes (including the famous duck) start at 60€ and go up. They do have a prix-fixe lunch menu (dinner is entirely a la carte) for 70€.

The experience at the two places really aren%26#39;t comparable. La Tour d%26#39;Argent is still one of my most memorable dining experiences ever, but I haven%26#39;t been there in 15 years....nor will I go back any time soon. I do, however, eat at RdB every time I%26#39;m in the city. Comments and reviews about TdA in the last few years have been mixed, so I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s worth the money any more. And to be truthful, when I went in %26#39;93, I wasn%26#39;t paying. LOL
