I am staying at La Foret in late August on il d%26#39;oleron has any body got any suggestions for days out etc.. (we have hired a car) and has anybody stayed at la Foret holiday park?

Can%26#39;t help with La Foret, as I have only visited Ile d%26#39;Oléron for the day; I usually stay on Ile de Ré.
La Cotiniere on the Ile d%26#39;Oléron is a pretty port, with some nice restaurants.
Going a bit further afield for the day by car, La Rochelle, particularly the area around the Vieux Port is well worth a visit.
I love the Ile de Ré, and would recommend anybody to go their for the day (St Martin, La Flotte), but unless you are very late in August the traffic across the bridge to get on and off the Ile de Ré might rule that option out.
A drive down south along the coast on the mainland (Ronce les Bains, Phare de la Coubre, St Palais, Royan) is also good.
If you are a wine lover you could also take the ferry across the Gironde from Royan and do some wine tasting in the Médoc.
