Hi,
I%26#39;m planning on visiting the Moulin Rouge soon and it%26#39;s very important to me that I get a seat near the front of the stage. I%26#39;d appreciate any tips on how to do this. Do I just need to start queuing very early?
Also I don%26#39;t speak any French. Would that be a problem?
Thanks,
Joe

First of all, book ahead or you may not find the time available for the night you want:

We had tickets for an 11 pm show and were told to be there by 10:45 pm. We got there at 10:00 and were hanging around the fountain across the street when I noticed people already lining up; so we did at about 10:15 pm.
We finally got in after 11 pm. There were many lined up after us by then..... and quite a few ahead of us. I noticed that tour groups seemed to get priority in seating but, nevertheless, our seats were reasonable, we felt. Not near the front but close enough.
The show finally started at 11:30 pm and finished at 1:30 pm. If you%26#39;re planning for the late show, remember that Metros stop running at 12:30 am, so have a plan %26#39;B%26#39;.
Also, not only are pictures prohibited during the show but you must actually check your camera.
We thought the show was terrific (we went 2 weeks ago).
Some other factors for which I don%26#39;t know the answer: you can buy a dinner + show package. Maybe these people get priority seating.
The other factor is the number in your group. Tables seat 6 so if, for example, you%26#39;re a couple and there is a close table with 4 already there, you may get placed closer.
A long winded answer to confirm your thought of arriving early and lining up early.

I seem to recall hearing somwhere that the seating is pre-assigned. If so, the actions of the people trying to %26quot;crowd-in%26quot; from behind are all for naught (that would be a good thing) --but-- I suspect thats not the case. I think it is %26quot;totally random%26quot;. My wife and I went one night and got a , not so great , seat off to the side ----- our kids went there the next night and got a seat front-row-center. There was a distinct difference despite my having bought all these tickets on-line at the same time.
I noticed a few people slipping the Maitre De some cash for a good seat (like they do in Vegas) but it didn%26#39;t do them any good --- he didn%26#39;t even look at the amount given and shoved it in his pocket while escorting them to the table right next to mine (off to the side).
Bottom-line , just hope for the best . There are only a few really bad seats (with structural support posts in the way). Language is not an issue there although a little courtousy may help.

Hi dhn and DMcD,
Thanks for the advice. I%26#39;ll certainly take it on board when I plan my trip.
Thanks again,
Joe

We had tix for the second evening show, without dinner, and we arrived one hour before the show -- we just didn%26#39;t know when people would show up.
We were first in line and got a table next to the stage -- litterally we could touch the stage.
