where to start?

I am arriving with my mom and sister in Paris in the early afternoon and I%26#39;m wondering, where do we start? We are renting an apartment so we don%26#39;t really have the t opportunity to ask at a front desk. I was thinking that a Seine River tour might be a nice way to start? How do we know where to buy Metro tickets and museum passes? Also, any advice on the best day to go to Versailles. We are also in Paris for Bastille day....does this mean things are closed? Any advice is welcome.

Where exactly is your apartment?

Tickets and pases can be purchased at your Metro station.

The first place to start is to get a guide book and you could read up on topics that have been discussed on this TA website.

Since you are new to TA you may not know that you can research topics by filling in the blank square in the upper right hand corner and hit %26quot;GO%26quot; ! There is so much great information available to you.

You can also goggle%26quot; Versaille offical website%26quot; and it has specific directions regarding getting there by RER or Bus.

Banks, department stores, grocery store and post offices and some museums are closed on Bastille Day.

Hi

Start with a good guidebook :-) Plan what you want to see and do while you are in Paris and take it from there. If you are staying long you should consider getting a carte Orange (if they are still around) for the metro as it is a great way to get around. If not buy a carnet(?)...10 tickets together that you and your family can use. I%26#39;ll send you a private message with a link to my trip report and pictures. Maybe you can find some useful information there :-)
