Spending 13 full days in the City of Light, and am budgeting $100 a day for spending money. I know the big answer when I ask if this is enough will be %26quot;it depends%26quot;, but let%26#39;s say that I%26#39;m 25, will walk everywhere if I can help it, don%26#39;t mind making my own lunch sandwiches if it means I can have a reasonably good dinner, am not going for the shopping, and plan to take some day trips to Versailles, Chartres, the Loire Valley, and perhaps Chantilly. Thanks!

It will undoubtedly cost more than you think, but I assume that this means a number in addition to your housing costs? If you have a flat, this is very feasible, not even a stretch (so long as you don%26#39;t go nuts with shopping or whatever). You will find many reasonably priced cafes/bistros/brasseries as you walk around, and can check out the price lists (always posted outside, by law) before deciding where to eat. Lunches could easily be had inexpensively from crepe vendors, boulangeries/patisseries (small savory tartes, which will be heated if you request, plus a soda and/or fruit or whatever, or just bread and cheese!).
As to %26quot;walk everywhere%26quot; that%26#39;s not necessary strictly as an economy move, although you may enjoy it. Just don%26#39;t forget that the Metro is not at all expensive and will help you cover more territory (although I admit I walked everywhere for my first two or three trips -- before I got over %26quot;Metro intimidation%26quot; and learned the system, which turned out to be quite easy).
Have a really good time!

Thanks again Berkely_travelers! I have already bought my airfare and booked my hotel room (as opposed to a flat as I am traveling alone and sort of feel safer to be %26quot;missed%26quot;), so the $100/day is for spending money. I%26#39;m planning to buy at least a carnet while in Paris, just to get to somewhere and then slowly work my way back home towards the end of the day. I am not a crazy shopper :-)

If indeed by $100 you exclude accommodation, then it is quite enough for a very comfy stay of a 25 person. You can have very good 3-course meals here for $25 or so , VAT %26amp; service included as usual, and even for day trips train tickets are not very expensive.
Accommodation itself you would need the $100, I guess, it really went up a lot these past years.
And unfortunately the Euro vs $ rate is very bad these days...

100.00 a day sounds about right. You didn%26#39;t mention where you are staying and if it is just you or anyone else.
If you rent an apartment you will be very comfortable and able to make breakfast, lunch and dinner by shopping at the markets and take out shops which is fun and a fraction of the price for eating out. Dinner can get expencive.
The metro is worth it for being there so many days, it is very easy and quick. A carnet would be fine (10 tickets).
Cheers,
Deb

OOPs you beat me to the answers...
Sorry

For $100/day excluding accomodation, you are golden (unless you plan on dining at La Tour D%26#39;Argent)! Even including the purchase of a Carnet (or two) or Museum Pass, and since you are not %26quot;into%26quot; shopping, you will have plenty of cash on hand to see and do (and eat!) to your heart%26#39;s content. Imagine travelling to Paris and having $100/day to get by on........ you%26#39;ll be fine........

we had an apartment so we saved on meals -- but then we are also old and not particularly willing to forego small luxuries and we averaged about 150E a day for the two of us -- we didn%26#39;t do any distant side trips this time like Versailles and Chartres -- and only went to the Louvre, Orsay, Nissim Commodo and Albert Kahn museums -- so we didn%26#39;t have lots of entry costs -- but we also ate modest but nice bistro dinners and had one splash at Les Ombres -- we did have Carte Orange
I think 100 is plenty -- and will allow some splurges here and there
