I have narrowed it down to two hotels--Help

I%26#39;m planning a trip to Paris March 22-28. It would be me and my 18 year old daughter. It%26#39;s a mother/daughter trip to see the eiffel tower and the Mona Lisa and the Louvre as well as Versailles and the Arc De Tromphe. We also want to a little window shopping and have ice cream etc. We don%26#39;t stay up late and like quiet surroundings.

So the choices are the Hotel Scribe-Paris* Managed by Sofitel which the price I;ve been told includes a breakfast buffet and it is located very close to the Rossi CDG bus stop. It looks like that would make it very convient, since I was gong to purchase the vistor 1-5 zone pass.

The other choice is the Paris Hilton which is close to Eiffel Tower one of our main reasons of visiting Paris. The price is the same as the Scribe but doesn%26#39;t include a breakfast and the transportation to and from the airport is a little more complicated.

The bad things about each hotel is that there is a posting on Trip Advisor that said the Scribe had 5 mice running around under the breakfast buffet table while he was eatting and no one did anything about it??

The Paris Hilton looks like the rooms are smaller and no good views and not much nearby such as a Cafe or market.

Help which should I choose?

Neither one sounds very attractive.

Why only two choices?

there are so many charming hotels in Paris -- if I were taking my 18 year old daughter (and I have) I would choose one of those -- and for me it was the Hotel Des Grande Ecoles in the Latin Quarter -- but there are many other charming choices -- I wouldn%26#39;t choose the Eiffel Tower area but if that is your choice I am sure there are hotels without mice for breakfast near there

having breakfast included is not that big a deal -- you can stop at any bar or cafe for cafe creme and croissant each morning

airport access is very easy in Paris -- the train comes right to the Latin Quarter -- there are shuttle and bus services at some of the other main areas -- and all you need to do to get back is take the metro to the RER and take the train to the airport -- it is a very easy town to get to the airport and that shouldn%26#39;t really affect your hotel choice (although checking to see that the hotel is near a metro stop is a good idea)

We%26#39;ve lived here more than 3 years and we%26#39;ve seen mice in the Sebastopol Monoprix (twice), in 3 different restaurants, a hotel, in the food court of the Louvre-Carrousel, the Pompidou Center, and scurrying around our feet in a café in the Tuilleries. Paris is a very densely populated city so naturally there are mice.

I think the Hotel Scribe-Paris would be a good choice inspite of the previous mouse sighting. The Sofitel chain is a respectable hotelier so I doubt that the mouse problem lasted very long.

The location near l%26#39;Opera is excellent for transportation and the area is exciting and beautiful. There are hundreds of cafés around Opera and the hotel is a short walk from the %26quot;Grand Magazins%26quot; The proximity to the RoissyBus eliminates all worry over airport transportation and if you plan to use the city bus system in Paris, you%26#39;re at one of the two hubs in the city.

In comparison, the 7th near the ET is seriously lacking in transportation options and has few other attractions nearby. Except for the ET, it%26#39;s kinda boring, especially on Sundays and bank holidays when everything is closed. Also keep in mind that you%26#39;ll probably visit the ET only once on your stay but you%26#39;ll see it every day from all over Paris.

Dear Kingfan:

Another hotel that is good and less expensive than the Scribe is the Millennium Hotel, located near the Opera and beside the Galeries Lafayette. The location is very good and the hotel is a superior 4 star hotel, quite elegant, and efficiently run. I stayed there for a week recently and was quite happy.

If I really had to choose, I would go for the Scribe, which is a perfect location for department stores and shop browsing.

However both are expensive, big things with little charm..and I would personnaly avoid both of them!

There are lots of much better, %26quot;local%26quot; comfy boutique hotels in Paris to choose from. For a similar cost or less, unless you got bargain rates at the two you mention!
