Can anyone please tell me how to ask a sommellier if it would be possible to have very small glasses of wine (not much more than a mouthful) with each course as I am currently unable to drink large amounts of alcohol.
(We normally let the sommellier choose a glass of wine to go with each course.)
Thank you.

Uh, well, I think you are going to have to just le him pour it all and just consume within your limit. While he is pouring, you could always just place your finger on the glass where you%26#39;d like him to stop. He%26#39;ll get it it sooner or later.
In either case, you%26#39;ll most likely be charged for a full glass.

Servings by the glass are pretty small anyway in Paris, typically 10 or 12cl, sometimes 15cl. This is already small compared to a typical UK measure of 17.5cl, but I think you%26#39;re after something even smaller.
I%26#39;m sure if you explain your situation and preference, they will respect your wishes - just make sure it is reflected in l%26#39;addition at the end.
Alternatively, buy a (half) bottle, and insist on serving yourself, or get your table-mates to drink more than their fair share.

Thank you.
I%26#39;ve had to cut right down on the amount of alcohol I can drink but still wish to let the sommellier display his skills. I have no idea how to express this wish in French :o)

Phread%26#39;s suggestion with the finger is all you will need. No need to try and learn a phrase when the finger thing works perfectly. With a single glass purchase the sommelier isn%26#39;t going to do the Can Can for you. Unless you are visiting starred restos there isn%26#39;t likely to be a difference between the waiter an the sommelier anyway.
