I%26#39;m flying Jet Blue to JFK and then taking an AF flight to CDG. So, my question is, I have to go through the check-n process once I come in to JFK, right? (since it%26#39;s not the same company?) My sister said I wouldn%26#39;t but I think I would since 1. it%26#39;s not the same company operated flight and 2. since it%26#39;s an interntional flight.
Thanks for the clarification!

Yes. I do believe you%26#39;ll need to check-in with AF as Jet Blue is a different airline not that the flight%26#39;s international so much.

You will have to pick up you luggage and recheck in at air france with another security check. International flights always have separate areas.

That%26#39;s what I thought. THANKS!!!!

Actually, it depends on Jet Blue%26#39;s interline luggage policy. For example, I can check in on an AA domestic flight connecting to a BA international flight on two different tickets. AA will check my luggage all the way through so I do not have to claim it before getting to my destination. However, they will not give me a boarding pass because it is two seperate tickets so I have to go to the BA check in counter to do that.
I also flew on Mesa Air (small commuter airline) from a small town in Arkansas to DFW where I connected to an international flight on AA. I was able to check my luggage all the way through and because of the layout of DFW I was able to stay airside while changing terminals. I therefore found myself in the international terminal behind security with no boarding pass for my next flight! I just went to the admirals club and asked for a boarding pass. If I had not had access to the admirals club I would have had to wait for the gate agents to show up.
So you will just have to ask Jet Blue if they will check your luggage all the way and then get your boarding pass once in JFK for the Air France flight.

Since I usually never check luggage (and am afraid of losing it), just for my own piece of mind, I would probably prefer to just pick up my luggage and bring it to AF since I have to get an AF boarding pass anyway. :)

Welcome back, MorganB! And good to know that information as well.

Your sister is incorrect. JetBlue has NO %26quot;interline%26quot; agreements with any other airlines, such as Northwest does with KLM or Delta with Air France. If you were flying on one single booked itinerary on partner airlines like Delta and Air France (ie: Delta from Columbus to JFK and then AF from JFK to CDG...) then of course you would be checked in all the way through and you would just have a layover at JFK between flights. In your case, however, since you have booked two separate flighs on two separate companies, one of them an independent, you will have to go through the process again.
Like all other independent airlines, Southwest for example, you and your luggage will NOT be checked through with any other airlines. You will indeed have to exit the JetBlue flight, collect any checked luggage and then go back to the check in desk for Air France and check in all over again. You will also have to take extra time to go through security again and all that stuff, so make sure you give yourself a minimum of 2 and 1/2 hours to make this transition. You might even consider more since most larger airports recommend you arrive for international flights at least 3 hours in advance....but it%26#39;s up to you. Personally, I wouldn%26#39;t take any chances.
Good luck! LL

Be sure to review your itinerary/tickets to determine your Jet Blue arrival terminal and your AF departure terminal. You will have to collect your luggage and get yourself to Terminal 1 (Air France), check in at Air France for a boarding pass and proceed through security, then to your gate. There is shuttle service between terminals. Keep in mind that you could wait up to 20 minutes for a bus and it could take up to half an hour to get to your departure terminal.

That%26#39;s good to know! I am arriving in terminal 6 so I need to get there. Just to be safe, I%26#39;m going to try to catch an earlier flight. If I can%26#39;t go standby, I%26#39;ll have to figure out how to get from terminal 6 to terminal 1. I think there%26#39;s an inter-terminal transport system.

OK, the air train takes a max of 8 minutes to go all the way around the airport and it runs every 2-4 minutes. So, the only possible point of delay is waiting for luggage. I believe everything will be okay with the connection.
