I am planning to take RER B from CDG Airport to Gare du Nord. My hotel is situated not far from the station, but only 2 minutes walk from 4 Chateau d%26#39;Eau metro station. Since I am going to have a luggage I%26#39;d rather take a metro till Chateau d%26#39;Eau rather than walking to the hotel from Gare du Nord.
My question is: Can I use the same ticket that I bought for RER B and use the metro from Gare du Nord to Chateau d%26#39;Eau? Or do I need to buy a new metro ticket?

Hi Nikki
Yes you use the same ticket as the RER ticket brings you in to Paris and then to any metro or RER stop within the periphique that circles the 20 arrondissements of central Paris. Just make sure you follow the signs to the Metro line 4 after you get off at Gare du Nord and hang on to the ticket as you need it to enter the metro and should hold on to it until you leave the metro at Chateau d%26#39;Eau

When you purchase a ticket for the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne train from CDG into central Paris, onward Metro or RER connections (not bus) within Paris are included within the price of that 8,10 € RER fare.
As noted, you must hang onto your RER ticket / coupon (keep it readily-at-hand), as you will need it to Exit through the gates or turnstiles of the RER portions of any connecting station (or as noted, enter the separate, regular Metro portion of a connecting station....BUT....if you somehow Exit the Metro portion of the station as well, the onward regular Metro portion of the ticket is at an end. So...when you arrive at the Gare du Nord station be sure to look for and follow %26#39;..CORRESPONDANCE..%26#39; (connecting passageways) signage, leading you to the departure platforms for the #4 Metro ligne...and AVOID any %26#39;..SORTIE..%26#39; (passageways leading to station Exits) signage. So you don%26#39;t want to go anywhere near a SORTIE until you get to CHATEAU d%26#39; EAU station.
None of this is %26#39;..rocket surgery..%26#39; nor (assuming you are of moderate intelligence, %26#39;..average..%26#39; physical condition and have no physical mobility issues) do you need to go into training as an Olympic weight-lifter to manage the RER and Metro system with normal luggage (unless your name is Ringling, Barnum or Bailey...then all bets are off). This is a fairly easy, straightforward and efficient mode of airport transfer.
If there are %26#39;..tricks..%26#39; to it, they are to keep your RER ticket / coupon in a convenient place so that it will be readily at-hand when you need it again to pass through the Exit turnstiles / gates. You can simply watch those ahead of you and what they do and then just roll through in their wake, as if you made this trip every day of your life. There is also much made of whether you should take an %26#39;..express..%26#39; (trains with %26#39;..K xxx..%26#39; designations) or %26#39;..local..%26#39; (trains with %26#39;..P xxx..%26#39; designations). It really doesn%26#39;t matter. The travel time difference will only be four(4) minutes. But what you should do when you arrive at the RER departure platforms at CDG is look for a train that has seat(s( available next to or across from the car doors. This simply makes egress from the train, while rolling luggage behind you quicker and easier...without having to dodge-around other passengers in the process. While onboard the train, you want to exercise the same common-sense precautions you would employ anywhere, anytime--RER %26#39;B%26#39; or #1 Metro) and keep your luggage and personal possessions within your direct control. Once on your Gare du Nord arrival platform, take a moment to look around. There are both stairs and escalators...rolling luggage behind you; you probably want the escalators.

Make sure you retrieve your ticket promptly as the machine spits it out. I have had people steal the ticket right under my nose TWICE and I would qualify myself as %26quot;smarter than average%26quot; when it comes to navigating Paris.

Thank you very much for valuable suggestions! I am ready to go to Paris on Saturday :)
