question for any aussie's

I am planning a trip to Paris/Nice leaving Melb on 17th Dec and arriving back around 2nd or 3rd of Jan.

Has anyone had any good airfare quotes around this time??

to be honest look around the net. if your under 25 you might get a youth fare..

find the cheapest one on the internet and then go to flight centre and see if they can beat it.... also keep in mind that a new released flight will be cheap as oppossed one thats been on sale for a while.. book asap cause the closer to xmas the more ridiculous the prices

when u find a cheap fare on one of those searches go direct to the companys website and search to see if the commision charged by the site is high

You might try Webjet but you are probably a bit late for the cheaper fares.

Earlier in the year I was looking at when the best time would be to go given the family holiday situation. The fares from 1 December onwards were $500 more expensive than prior.

I booked in late February for a flight out of Brisbane on 30 November and returning on 2 January 2008. Cost me about A$1980 a ticket all up.

With 5 of us going that saved us $2500 and allowed us to stay 2 more weeks which also gave us a monthly rate for the apartment rather than a weekly rate. By going 2 weeks earlier we got those extra 2 weeks for free and might have even saved us a bit of money.

The trick is to find your airfares as early as possible. I check the prices regularly and have yet to see a fare cheaper than what we booked in February.

That time in December is the airline%26#39;s high season, where it%26#39;s very hard to get reasonable fares. The cheapest I could find was Malaysia Airlines from MEL to CDG (Paris) for around $2630.

well last year we went to paris, stopover in HK and flew out of Vienna with a stopover in Bangkok for $2300 pp. incl taxes etc...we only booked that fare 6 weeks before departure and thought it was fairly reasonable. we flew Cathay Mel-HK, same to Paris, Swiss to Bangkok and Qantas BKK to Mel via Sydney.

we left melbourne on december 5th.
