day trip to Giverny

Any suggestions for how to visit Giverny from Paris? I am dying to see Monet%26#39;s gardens. Thanks!

Train to Vernon and a taxi.

Dear NY:

I took a Paris Visions Plus tour, which is in the afternoon. They pick you up in a van at your hotel and drop you back when the tour ends. There are only 8 passengers plus the driver, who is your guide. The small group makes it more intimate and you can ask you guides more questions. I booked through my hotel.

Look for my recent trip report in this forum.

Hello Mom.

Get the earliest train that you can from Paris to Vernon to avoid the tour groups and tour buses.

There is also a frequent local bus from outside Vernon station to Giverny. If you arrive between 10 and 1 you should look around the village first, have a little lunch in the cafe and then go into Monet%26#39;s garden. I would recommend that you look around the garden first and then go inside the house.

You will love it.......

I agree with Goodoldboy. It was easy as 1-2-3.

I bought my tickets a day ahead of time, as I heard

the lines for train tickets can be long. The train to

Vernon leaves from Gare Lazare, if I remember

correctly. We took an 8am train.

There was no difficulty getting the bus for

Giverny, right at the train station. Being the first to

go through the gardens/house meant smaller groups of

people (easier photos.), We finished by noon, and walked

down the road to the American Impressionist Museum

where we ate lunch in nice surroundings.
